The Championship Course

A Robert Trent Jones Jr. masterpiece featuring strategic design and natural beauty

Course Overview

Whispering Pines Golf Course stands as one of Southern California's premier public golf facilities. Designed by the legendary Robert Trent Jones Jr. in 1987, the course has been meticulously maintained to preserve his original vision while incorporating modern improvements to enhance playability and sustainability.

The course winds through 162 acres of gently rolling terrain, featuring mature pine forests, strategic water hazards, and immaculately groomed bentgrass greens. Jones' signature style is evident throughout, with generous fairways that reward accurate driving and complex green complexes that demand precision on approach shots.

Each hole presents unique challenges, from the dramatic dogleg on the par-5 7th to the island green on the par-3 16th. The course can be enjoyed by golfers of all skill levels, with five sets of tees ranging from 5,127 yards to 6,847 yards.

Signature Holes

7

The Serpent

Par 5, 567 yards (Championship)

A dramatic dogleg left that curves around ancient pines. The tee shot requires precision to avoid the fairway bunkers on the right, while the approach demands careful club selection to reach the elevated green protected by water on the left. Risk-reward opportunities abound for those attempting to reach in two.

16

Island Green

Par 3, 178 yards (Championship)

Our most photographed hole features a pristine island green surrounded by crystal-clear water. With the wind swirling through the pine canopy, club selection is critical. The green features multiple tiers, making pin position crucial for scoring opportunities. A true test of nerve and precision.

18

The Closer

Par 4, 437 yards (Championship)

A fitting finale with a spectacular view of the clubhouse. The fairway narrows dramatically at driving distance, rewarding accuracy over distance. The approach plays uphill to a multi-tiered green with the clubhouse as a backdrop, creating a memorable finish to your round.
